Teaching Your Children Social Skills

We use our social skills on a daily basis. We give out compliments to friends and family, we greet our co-workers, we ask salespeople for help, and so much more. How we use these skills makes a great deal of difference in how we are treated, as well as how we are perceived by others. By learning and effectively using social skills we can get along with more people, as well as having the ability to deal with more situations successfully.

As a mother, you want your children to learn good social skills. Social skills are helpful for children whether they are interacting with their peers or interrupting their father when he’s picking out his favorite teams on sports betting sites.

Your children will be using their social skills to determine what behavior is acceptable in society. Teaching your children these important skills is relatively easy, but you need to be consistent in your instructions.

When your child attempts or actually uses a social skill appropriately, you should reward the behavior. Give the child a lot of praise. Use the situation as a teaching tool and talk about what they did right in the given situation. Also, explain to them why the use of that particular social skill was a good choice.

As your children learn social skills, they will begin to realize what to do and say in different situations and it will become second nature. This will cause them to be much more successful in their dealings with other people, as well as their peers, in future social situations.

Teaching your children good social skills is also giving them a set of survival skills. These skills will allow your children to get along well with others, without strife or conflict, maintain a sense of self-control and in general, they will have the tools for leading a successful life.

Blog Review For A Cause

Buy a blog review for $10 and help Baby Bella for her Hernia operation

A hernia is the protrusion of an organ through the wall of the cavity that normally contains it. When a hernia is not repaired, it may become strangulated. When strangulation occurs, there is a danger that part of the intestine be caught in the hernia cutting off blood supply to the tissue. Also, when a bowel obstruction occurs, it leads to severe pain, vomiting, nausea and inability to have a bowel movement or pass gas. Although Hernia happen to boys mostly, girls can also experience it.

We can help raise the expenses needed for Bella's operation by purchasing a blog review from her Mom, Mommy Rubz. A blog review from her PR3 blog. The review is consist of 150 words (all positive) with 2 links (home page link) and an image of the header or screen shot of the blog to be reviewed. One link with the blog title as the anchor text and the other link is on the image.

Please send me an email (pehcats@gmail.com) with the url of the blog you want Ruby to review.. and will reply with the url of the post and the paypal id where you can send the payment and if you are generous enough, you can even add more to the $10 price... will be waiting for your email!

Rompers

A romper suit is a one-piece garment worn by children and sometimes women. Somewhat similar to a coverall, it is loose fitting and usually has shorter legs that may be gathered at the end. Puffed pants are particularly associated with rompers. Rompers usually are meant as a combination of shorts and a shirt, though the term can include jumpers, one-piece bathing suits, and clubwear fashions to name a few. (wiki)

Aren't these rompers the cutest? Got those images from Diapers.com.. If you have a baby girl, check out the store and if you are ready to buy, just key in AFF10 when checking out to avail of the $10 discount on your first order.

CARTER'S!!!

June Spending

Last weekend, we attended the launch of CROCS ABF (almost barefoot) collection in Enchanted Kingdom Biki Waterworld. The event was fun and wet for the kids as they got to enjoy the inflatable water attraction in the theme park. As for me, it was fun too. And for my benefactor, not as much LOL. Why? It's not that we have to get payday advance for the shoes that I want, but yeah, it was still not in the budget (yet) and I still need to buy Chico his pair (his older brothers got a pair each).

Oh well, maybe next month as June is not a good month to spend on unnecessary things. You know, school supplies are the top priority this month (tuition fee too!). Good thing my kids are not like other kids who thinks school year is about having new bag, new shoes, new etc. To them as long as I supply them with pencil and papers, they're all good.

Sweet Brother

I was out a while ago, er, not a while ago but earlier yesterday (since it's 1 AM already). My sister wants to go to the parlor but she wants me to accompany her. And since, I can no longer tolerate her asking again and again, I gave in. The only condition is that she would help me cook our dinner. Got her! She did helped me in slicing the onions (which she hates so much) and some garlic too and ginger. After cooking our meal, off we go to the nearest mall here.

It was not a busy day in the mall but when we arrived there, my hair stylist was attending someone. We had to wait for 5 minutes or more before she can attend my sister. And when it was her time, me and Chico went inside the department store. Oh my, I think I would need debt management badly. Chico wants to buy a lot of stuff for her baby girl! He saw a cute pink dress and he keeps telling, baby! baby! Even if the dress are not that expensive, if he would buy Sati a dress every time we went out, I would be in deep debt in no time. But it was really sweet of him to think of his sister. It was really cute how he insists on buying the dress he chose. I will post Sati's pic after the helper washed the clothes Chico bought for her.

My Pretty Doll

Sati is growing so fast! As in! Oh my, she looks like she is three months old now. Remember that even before she was born, I already start buying clothes for her. I bought clothes in different sizes. I bought some for newborn, and a lot for babies 0 to 3 months. Now, even her 0 to 3 months sized clothes, is already small for her. I think I need to shop again and this time I will shop for larger sizes.

And just like before, aside from clothes, I will also buy some toys for her. I am eying this jellycat birdy tails soft book. It is very colorful, just right for Sati as she her sight is developing now. She need toys that are colorful which will help her in focusing her eyesight. One of the clothing line that I truly trust is barefoot dreams. I am assured that their products are all made using natural materials. Like the pink ruffled bloomer and tee below, it will be very comfortable for Sati. It is cotton, my first requirement for my baby's clothes, and it is very soft too. Sati will look good on it, the ruffles made the set so adorable.

I also want an appaman skirt for her. I said I won't buy girly outfits for her but I can't help it! All those adorable pink and cute dresses, skirts are telling me to buy them all. Now I know what my friends say about having a baby girl. They said baby girls are fun to dress up and it is so true. This is a secret and don't tell this Sati (she may not like it when she learned about it), every now and then, I turn her into a model and I play dress up, yes aside from being a mom' s little princess, she is also my doll. Sshh.

The Truth About Infant Formula

This is my fourth pregnancy and the last. I have been through 3 boys and all of them are breastfed. I breastfed them for almost a year. The benefits of breastfeeding are endless. From my experience alone, the kids are healthier and they have a stronger immune system. It also develops a certain bond between me and the baby. More to that, I feel like I ma closer to them and in a way that I am being a good mother to them.

Back then I always thought that when you give your babies infant formula, it may mean that you love them less. That is one of the reason why I decided to breastfeed purely. It was on my second child that I knew I was wrong. There are instances that beyond me where I need to alternate his food with infant formula. At first I am all to expensive formula but my pediatrician recommended I use store brand formula. According to him, expensive formulas and store brand formula have the same ingredients. He also pointed out that infant formula cannot replace what breast milk can do, however expensive it was. Hearing it from a pediatrician, I know that he is right.

From then on, I tried hard to educate other mothers the truth behind infant formula. As it is, most of them feel guilty because they cannot breastfeed their babies. To make up for it, they chose to buy expensive formula. They really thought that it infant formula that are expensive can make up for their absence. They were shocked to know that store brand formula has the same ingredients as expensive formula.

Keeping The Kids Warm

To all of you who prayed for us and think of us, our deepest thanks. We would never survive the longest weekend of our life without your prayers. It helped us made it through and keep our faith and hope alive. It was the hardest that hit us and I hope we can recover soon. I know my kids are traumatized by the event and I can only hope that I can still give them the feeling of safety they once felt in our sanctuary.

I plan to buy them stuffed animals like jellycat. I know that in a way it can take their fear for a time and might even forget the trauma they had been. This cutie animals will be their friends for a while. I also plan to buy some barefoot dreams cardigans just in case. A good old cardigan to help them keep warm. I know it is still too early to plan for these things as we have other priorities but I am working on it. For sure I won't be sleeping that much in the next few days to catch up on my work and to earn more for my coming baby.

I have been planning on buying my little angel some appaman clothes. I really can't stop eying every pink clothes I see. I want to buy them all and let my baby girl ear it. Oh by the way, she did popped out during the time that we are so stressed out. Maybe she knows that her clothes are not yet ready. And yes I will buy her a jellycat too just like what I plan to buy for her three older brothers. I know my kids will look lovely with all those stuff. I can't wait!

Shopping For The Kids. Again.

It's September already! I am due November and the excitement of giving birth to a baby girl hasn't died down. Actually, the excitement is building up over time. Everyday, I can't help but browse for some great baby products. I can't help it guys. Baby products are all eye candy. Can you blame me if I wanna see all pinks and yellow? As I have told you a countless time, this is our first girl int he family, and not just in my family but in my mother's side. Me and my siblings are all gifted with boys, so just imagine our excitement with this baby.

I have been thinking if I would buy a playpen for Chico. The wooden crib Chico is using will be Sati's crib when she is born. Chico is a lot playful now. His past time is walking and climbing. Maybe instead of a playpen, I should buy him activity sets to keep him occupied. Chico is not like his older brother who really love books. I remember when my oldest son turns one, our gifts for him were Children Books and he really enjoyed it. Chico is much like my second son, who love toys and toys. They both enjoy building blocks and the likes. Their favorite toys are cars and anything with wheels on it.

Aside from the eye candy toys I have been seeing, I can't help but drool over Infant clothes. Just so you know, I hadn't started my shopping yet. I have plans before but the wide selection of clothes specially cute outfit for girls is making it difficult for me. I want to buy them all! Seriously, if I can, I would check all the pinks and yellows or any color and add it on my cart. Then I still have to worry about the boys, of course for Chico, I should at least buy some toddler clothes for him. My two older boys won't let me without buying each a shirt for them. Every time I browse an online store, they would something that they fancy. Transformers shirt for boys is what they want and it's everywhere! My boys are really crazy about Transformers. Right now, while Mommy is ranting here, they are watching Transformer.

The only consolation I have is, I am due November so it means I have an excuse not to shop for gifts for my family this coming Christmas. I have a lot to spend for the kids. Yahoo!

Toys For My Pre Schoolers

My first born and my second born as you all know are now in preparatory school. They are learning a lot and now they want more books. Even before they enter preparatory school, I have been buying them a lot of children's book. I knew in a way it enhances their learning skills. Aside from books, the kids are always asking for another set of pencils, pad papers or any school supplies that they think they need. One of their favorite thing to buy is crayons. They never get tired looking for crayons.

When I enrolled the kids in their school, never knew that the school provides supplies like bags, pencils and crayons. I was lucky because I did not have to worry on what kind of bags I need to buy. The teachers are very nice too to inform us about their daily schedules. The bags they provide is just right for the books and other school paraphernalia.

Two weeks ago was their exam week and just last week, the report card have been distributed. Don't think I am bragging, but actually I am. Their grades are really higher than what I expected. Their Daddy promised to give more educational toys as a gift. Actually the boys are asking for a kid computer but it was not on our priority list right now. Good thing there is a lot of educational software in the market. I can just install it in the computer and they can have fun learning and using the computer.

Their second quarter exam is scheduled for the second of October. We must prepare now so they can have another treat from Daddy!

Not Now Kids

And we have plans for this weekend.. and the weather is not so good right now. ARg!

We promised the kids that we will treat them in Ecopark this Saturday but it has been raining all day. Chico o the other hand is experiencing slight fever. He got it the last time we went out. There was this kid who can't get enough of him and kissed him continuously. Now he got cold virus..

The kids are a bit disappointed. We have so many plans like bringing in basket full of goodies (typical picnic set up), a big mat and the likes. And those plans have to go for now.. Maybe next week.. and I hope the weather's OK by then..

The Kids Are Dreaming

They say that when a bay smiles while he is asleep, it means that he is dreaming or being played by his angle. The angle part, I dunno but the dreaming part, maybe yes. Scientifically, when a new born smiles, it is just a gas passing out of his mouth.

Have you ever wonder if your kids are really dreaming or if they knew they are dreaming and if they can comprehend what is happening after they close their eyes?

I do and I observed my kids. As you know I have three subjects that I can closely observe and enough to make my own theory. From my experiences with my kids I learned that kids do have dreams. They dream but only in a certain age when they become aware of it, only a certain age when they can separate it from reality. Given a lot of practice and a lot of encouragement from you, time will come that they can relate it to you clearly.

When I had my first born, there was a time when in the middle of the night he would scream and kick and no amount of soothing can make him stop. It took more or less a year before he overcomes that. From time to time I would ask him why he would suddenly scream or cry and he can’t even remember that he cried. It took us a lot of nights and a lot of encouragement and questioning before he finally realized what is happening. It was very apparent that he was dreaming; only he can’t separate his dreams from reality. So finally when he recognized the difference of his dream from the real world, another struggle comes to life. It is how to encourage him to remember his dreams. For a time, we were not successful but now he can actually tell his dreams in full details.

I came to a conclusion (about the dream pattern) when Mico was in that screaming and kicking stage too. At age 3 they become aware of the dream and yet they cannot separate it from reality. They perceived their dreams as a real life experience and yet they are still too young to remember about it when they wake up. Turning 4, little by little, they understood what dream is all about. Life would be much much easier if parents would help them in understanding their dreams. Around 4 they are now in full control of their sleeping pattern (thanks to you mom and dad). Dreams no longer bother them but still unable to relate it to you clearly. At the age of 5, this is the time when they would endlessly talk about their dream in full animation.

So Mommy and Daddy what we need to do during the difficult stage of our baby?
Don't think of yourself less when there will come a time that o amount of soothing can make them stop.
Don't scream at them during these nights, no matter how tired you are, they are not aware of what is happening to them.
Talk to them, discuss about it, make them try to remember it but not force them to.

Chico's still not experiencing this stage but I can say I can handle him now with ease, thanks to my two guinea pigs.

Summer Camp Fun

Summer Camps is my dream summer activity for my kids. Yes, I know it is a bit early for them, but in the nearest future I would love it if they can experience summer camps.

Page_block_dscf4879-20071001-203245

When I was a kid I experienced camping, not summer camp and it was really fun, just imagine how much more fun it would be if my kids can experience summer camping. My kids would love the adventures and the sense of freedom summer camps can bring. I remember, we cooked our own food, we do a lot of singing and we slept on our own. Summer camp is also a good place for discipline and learning to be independent. Parents would be thrilled to know that there are lots of summer camps going around their place. And kids would be excited to know that their parents are allowing them to join a summer camp. I have seen on movies and television that most of the kids are eagerly waiting for summer, specially for summer camp. So moms, come on let's start packing your kid's things and drive them to the nearest camp.

Future Enhancement

By now, you already know and maybe hope for me to stop talking about our upcoming baby girl. I am so sorry guys but I just can’t. Every single day, I think about her and gets more excited on my due date. As I have said to my sisters, this will be the longest pregnancy I will have. I just can’t wait to meet this little girl. Maybe you will not understand it that much but Sati is a name that I long to call for my baby. It’s not only the name but the wait it has given to us. Imagine that nickname, Sati and the full name Sofia Ananta has been on the household since my first born. Aside from the excitement of having a little mini me, I am now 100% sure that I want to go through ligation. The family is very complete now, we have three boys and we will be having our princess soon! Ligation comes with a promise that I can have breast reduction in the future. Some may think it's crazy but I promised myself that when I am done having kids, I will make my body my priority. Having three kids who are all breastfed makes my breast saggy aside from the fact that it was big to begin with. It's my treat to myself. It's makes perfect sense to me since I can't have kids anymore after ligation, so I won't breastfeed anymore.

I know locally, there are clinics that offer this kind of procedure, but if I can save as much, I will have it done somewhere. It is not that I don't trust our local surgeons but I just want the best result for this procedure. This is the only operating procedure or body enhancement procedure that I would experience so I want it to be the best. Of course, 2 or 3 years form now, it would still not be possible to travel and have breast reduction abroad. I am thinking maybe 5 or 8 years from now. Actually my target age is when I turned 35. I think it would be the most optimum date to travel and have this kind of procedure. By then, the kids are bigger and I will not feel guilty when I went ahead with my travel and enhancement plans.
