When the Stay-At-Home Mom Ventures Out

While the stay-at-home mom designation makes many people think of hearth and home with fresh bread baking in the oven, the reality is often very different. Between shopping, activities for the kids, and other endless errands, it's a wonder that stay-at-home mom's are ever at home. The stresses of traveling from place to place in today's congested urban areas can make anyone wish they could stay at home all day.

With small children, it often takes planning just to get out the door. The car seats must be positioned in just the right spot, toys have to be packed, sporting goods remembered, and a few snacks should always be taken. If you're not careful, at least one person will forget to use the bathroom before leaving. Sometimes, you are so concerned about everyone else's needs that you're the one that forgets to go.

Once you're on the road, the real adventure begins! Between careless drivers pulling out in front of you, people who never signal before they turn, and those tailgaters who are sure that you are driving way too slow, it's no wonder that car insurance rates are so high. Once you arrive at your destination, the competition for prime parking places begin. At least in this area, you can do your heart and your nerves a favor by parking in the back where there are fewer cars to bang your doors.

While this can be frustrating while driving a brand new car, many stay-at-home moms are on a budget and try to stretch the life of their vehicle as far as possible. If you're worrying about whether or not your car will start the next time you get in it, it can really make you wish you were safe at home. In addition to all their other responsibilities, many stay-at-home moms need to be part-time mechanics as well.
