According to Twitter posts, “Mayer paid $8,000” (more than P300,000) for the trouble.
Asked to confirm the incident, the hotel’s communications director sent two statements to the Inquirer: the first saying that “such allegations are completely false and untrue”; the second adding that Edsa Shang management “looks forward to welcome Mayer back to the Philippines.”
But one of the persons who sent the tweet claimed he talked directly with sources who saw the mess; and that hotel staff disclosed on Friday morning that the suite “is temporarily closed for renovation.”
In any case, Mayer’s talent fees for the concert was reportedly in the vicinity of $400,000
—which makes paying $8,000 for hotel damages, if he really did go wild like some archetypical rock star, quite a pittance.
