TCP: Vantage Point

It's been a while since I last posted an entry in TCP. Honestly I have been busy doing a lot of things. Aside from Sati, I am building new sites and hopefully monetize it soon. Only now that I got the chance to write again, because I gave up on building my site and finally asked fr help from Kaye.

And now back to my couch.. the theme is Presidents and First Families. The first movie I had in mind was Vantage Point. This is a movie about assassination of the President of the United States. The film was presented in different points. Through those point of views, the assassin, the plot was discovered and the President was saved.

I like this movie because the way it was presented was very different and very interesting. And another thing, I also like how the President was portrayed in the film. He was strong and willing to fight for his life, not the President that was usually portrayed in movies (weak and always depend his life on his bodyguards).

TCP: Pursuit of Happyness

Another day for the movie meme, Tuesday Couch Potato. I like this meme as it always challenge me to write a good story about a certain movie that I like. This week's theme is all about drama. If it has been any movie that makes you cry, my list would be endless as I am really a cry baby (yes it's true Niko).

I was really intrigued by a certain drama/romance movie that Kaye mentioned in her blog a few months ago but I can't remember it and I did not have the time to watch it.. Anyway, for this theme, my entry is Pursuit of Happyness.

Pursuit of Happynes is a story about Chris Gardner and his quest for a more stable life. He invested his savings in a device called bone density scanner. A machine much like an xray but twice the price. Selling it was not easy and their finances collapsed. His wife left him with their son, Christopher. He was homeless and he survive day by day trying to sell the machines. He also applied for a job as stock broker. He went through 6 months of training without pay. They spend nights on abandoned buildings, streets and anywhere else where they can sleep. It was difficult but he was very determined to make it and keep his promise to his son.

The movie is heavy drama. I cried a river while watching it. The struggles of the main characters are unimaginable. I remember a scene where they spend a night on a bathroom. You can see how difficult it is for the father. It was also very evident how he tried so hard just to give his son a good life. It makes you wish that all fathers are like him..

TCP: Big Fish

This week's theme for TCP is magical movies. I thought of posting abot Harry Potter or The Lord of The Ring but decided not to.

This is my entry instead, BIG FISH. The story of a young man who is extraordinary. He had been through a lot of adventure. He managed to befriend a giant, catch a big fish and even escaped a war through a twin lady. He had a life full of adventure but he missed one thing, a time with his growing son.

I love this movie because of the magical creatures it presented and not all that, it gives focus on the relationship of a father and a son.

TCP: For The Entire Family

This week's theme for TCP is For the whole family. We never watched as a whole family actually but if there is one that we watched and liked as a whole, that would be I AM LEGEND. I know it is not on the "for the family" genre but the kids loved it and I love the OST of that movie..

Robert Neville is a scientist who was unable to stop the spread of the terrible virus that was incurable and man-made. Immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City and perhaps the world. For three years, Neville has faithfully sent out daily radio messages, desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. But he is not alone. Mutant victims of the plague -- The Infected -- lurk in the shadows... watching Neville's every move... waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind's last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But he knows he is outnumbered... and quickly running out of time. IMBD

TCP: Artificial Intelligence

It's Tuesday again! And from now on, you will find most of my memes here (except for Mommy Moments who will stay at Make or Break). This week's theme for Tuesday Couch Potato is Robot/Cyborg Film.

I am not quite familiar with this genre but my research on Robot/Cyborg Film led me to a film that is very close to my heart. I am not talking about Transformers because that one is closer to my pocket than in my heart. LOL

Robot/Cyborg Film that I really like is AI or Artificial Intelligence. The movie tells about David, a young boy who has the capability to love but is actually a mecca (a robot). This is your robot Pinocchio and the story centered on that. David braves all to find his blue fairy and to achieve the love of his adoptive parents.

The movie is set in a time where Green House gas caused ice melt flooding the world. A scientist develop a mecca (a robot) that is capable to love and he called him David. A family who's son is suffering from an incurable disease was enlisted as a test subject. They adopt David and treated as their own. The mother imprinted herself to David thus making the robot believed she is her real mom. For a time David was happy but then the real son was cured and came home. He treated David not as a part of the family but as a toy. In one of their activities, the mom told them the story about Pinocchio and the blue fairy. Turn of events led them to believe that David is dangerous and should be sent back to be destroyed. The mom could not bear it and she just left David in the woods. David was confused and he believed that he was abandoned because he was not real. The realization brought him to his quest for the blue fairy. In the end he finds the blue fairy and discovered more about him and the other mecca that looks exactly as him and of course with the same function as him, that is to LOVE.

I will not spoil he ending to you guys but this is a must watch. OK, I must admit that I am a tearjerker when it comes to movies. David is so lovable, you sometimes wish, you're the mom in the movie and promise to yourself you will take good care of him. It was not hard to attach yourself on the characters of the movie..
